Haiti has two international airports. Port-au-Prince International Airport is located 5 miles from downtown. The other international airport is Cap-Haitien. United States and
Canadian citizens must have a passport and birth certificate to visit Haiti. Entry visas are not required. Visitors are charged US $25.00 airport tax upon departure.

Getting from the Airport to your Hotel Taxis are available at the airport. The ACGH taxis are generally the most courteous and reliable. They are accredited by the ACGH (Association des Chauffeurs Guides d'Haïti). The ACGH drivers are easily recognizable because of their white Guayavera shirts with an ACGH pin. They meet all flights. Agence Citadelle, one of Haiti's major travel agencies, run the "Airport Express", a door-to-door air conditioned minibus shuttle which includes a "meet greet" service at the airport. The charge for the shuttle service is US$10 per person. You advised to ahead of your arrival, Phone: 509-222-5900 or 509-223-5900. Agence Citadelle provides charter bus service and a multilingual sightseeing tour in both Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien. To get around the island you can arrange with your ACGH driver to be picked up and driven around, or you can call the ACGH when you need a car. Their telephone number is 222-0330. If you need to be picked up in Petion-Ville, Nick's Taxi Service, Telephone: 257-7777, is a quicker bet. Nick's now has a new fleet of double-cabin 4x4 pickup trucks that can go just about anywhere, and are equipped with two-way radio, link them to their central dispatcher. Driver-owned taxis can be readily found at the Montana Hotel parking area and in the parking area between the El Rancho and Villa Creole hotels in Petion-Ville. Your hotel will be the best source of advise for taxis. Hotels often have arrangements with drivers and taxis companies that they know to be reliable. Cruising taxis cans be easily spotted, they have a double "O" painted on their doors and a registration number painted on the hood. Though the regulation of the taxi system in Port-au-Prince has greatly improved, always settle on the price ahead of time. Car Rentals Though headquartered at various locations in Port-au-Prince and Petion-ville, a number of car rental agencies have an office across the street from the airport. A wide variety of vehicles is generally available, ranging from sedans from US$50 to US$80 per day to four wheel drives from US$120 to US$165 per day. Hertz also rents a pickup truck at US$123 per day. In general, all of the rental companies will require a cash deposit ranging from US$400 to US$1,200 depending on the type of car you rent. If you are using a credit card then American Express, Visa and MasterCard are almost universally accepted. You do not need to get a local driver's permit to drive in Haiti. Your US, Canadian or European driver's license is fine. Driving in Haiti is on the right. Some of the car rental companies are willing to give a special rate if you are planning to rent a vehicle for a a week or longer. Call to reserve a car ahead of time, agree on a rate and ask about specials deals.
